Bombin’ (1987, Channel 4 , UK), chronicles the journey of NY artist Brim through the UK media, as well as meeting a young Goldie, who in turn travels to NYC to meet Afrika Baambaata. This was filmed at the times of the Birmingham riots and shows the parallels of life in the inner city on both sides of the Atlantic.

Bomb It – the explosive new documentary from award-winning director Jon Reiss investigating the most subversive and controversial art form currently shaping international youth culture: graffiti.

Through interviews and guerilla footage of graffiti writers in action on 5 continents, BOMB IT tells the story of graffiti from its origins in prehistoric cave paintings thru its notorious explosion in New York City during the 70’s and 80’s, then follows the flames as they paint the globe. Featuring old school legends and current favorites such as Taki 183, Cornbread, Stay High 149, T-Kid, Cope 2, Zephyr, Revs, Os Gemeos, KET, Chino, Shepard Fairey, Revok, and Mear One. This cutting edge documentary tracks down today’s most innovative and pervasive street artists as they battle for control over the urban visual landscape. You’ll never look at public space the same way again.

BOMB IT has shot in Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Tijuana, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Hamburg, Berlin, Cape Town, São Paulo, and Tokyo.

Not a new tune but a great tune! Mos Def’s “Katrina Klap” (Sept. 2005) it’s his response to the government’s mishandling of the Hurricane Katrina disaster. On the night of the MTV Video Music Awards, he got arrested performing ”Katrina Klap” in front of the crowd, outside of the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Klap, Klap, Klap!

In order to market the flagship Presto brand across a dozen Asian countries,
Nike and Wieden+Kennedy/Tokyo sought a unique visual identity
that did not depend heavily on written or spoken language.
To achieve Nike’s objectives, the live-action design company Motion Theory in Los Angels
produced and directed live-action shoots in Tokyo, Shanghai, and Los Angeles,
filming artists David Ellis , Sasuke, and Frek in the process of creation.
The resulting art included organic forms, abstract patterns, and distinctive characters.
“Layers”, depicts the essence of the collaborative creative process between artists.

I Met The Walrus
I met the Walrus
In 1969,  a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan,  armed with a reel-
to-reel tape deck and a head full of questions,  snuck into John Lennon’s hotel
room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview.
This was in the midst of Lennon’s “bed-in” phase,  during which John and Yoko
were staying in hotel beds in an effort to promote peace.
38 years later,  Jerry has produced a film about it.
Using the original interview recording as the soundtrack,  director Josh Raskin
has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon’s every word in
a cascading flood of multipronged animation. Raskin marries the terrifyingly
brilliant pen work of James Braithwaite with masterful digital illustration by
Alex Kurina,  resulting in a spell-binding vessel for Lennon’s boundless wit,  and
timeless message.
The young Jerry Levitan is portrayed in simple cell-animated pen lines as he
poses his interview questions,  and in contrast,  Lennon’s replies trigger an
assail of fast-moving animation,  highlighting the particulars of his genius
through literal visualization.
This film is not just an historic recording.
This film is not just an amusing anecdote,  rampant with witty turns of phrase.
This film is not just a kaleidoscope of masturbatory nonsense.
This film is a vital reminder that the state of the world is not a given.  It can be changed.
In John’s words. . .
“Think peace and you’ll get it.  It’s up to the people… If we really wanna
change it,  we can change it.
Produced with the assistance of a Bravo!FACT (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent) grant, supported by CTV.
